    You don't have enough hurricanes in that area to personally determine wind speed and destruction by damage. Homes in that particular area are not required to be built hurricane proof like Florida, Carolina's, parts of Louisiana and Texas. You also are confusing sustained wind speeds with wind gusts. I have personally been through several cat 3 and 4 hurricanes in Florida, and the damage that I have seen from southwest Georgia is about right on with cat 1 strength and higher gusts. Glad everyone is safe...

    I went to Charlotte, NC a week or two ago and it wasn’t even flooded a single bit :/ but I think that other towns are still having flooding.
