  • I styled 3 outfits inspired by the popular fashions of thirty years ago! From the hair metal rockers and groupies, to blazer-clad working ladies and teen pop idols decked out in acid wash jeans, I had a great time pretending it was 1987 and exploring fashion history through one of the most iconic decades - the 80s. Let me know what you think of my ~lookbook~ and if you want to see more of these!

A huge thanks to Kayley Melissa for rocking out this 80s hair! You can check out her channel here: https://www.youtube.com/user/LetsMake...

  • Lauren  (Nov 17, 2018))

I definitely remember my mother wearing a suit like that to work. Red and tweed were soooooo in

  • HeyyBrey  (Oct 19, 2017))

Safiya nails it. She really does her research. No crazy neon and leg warmers that so many people seem to think that what everyone wore in the 80's. I really really enjoy watching Saf's videos!

  • Kathleen Kerzner  (Feb 8, 2019))

I was a teen in the 80's and can tell you that neon and legwarmers were more of a 1984/85 thing. I remember wearing a flourescent pink sweatshirt with a zillion black and neon rubber bracelets a la Madonna. But legwarmers were totally out of style by 1987..neon was still around but not in the forefront. And I almost fell over dead when I saw acid wash jeans at Target last week. That's a trend that shouldn't have a repeat

  • cherry pop  (Jan 28, 2019))

bubble gum jeans and lace gloves and hair ties. i also loved leg warmers and would borrow my friends. we wore neon board shorts to school and i had a neon bike short set in the late 80's.

I was born in 1969 and so the 80's were definitely my era (and we had the best music EVER) TBH I loved the 80's. In the early 80's in the UK it was defo the New Romantic era where everything was frills and black and white, mid 80's you got a bit more colour and the late 80's more colour BUT TBH throughout the 80's anything and everything was cool. You also had the punks (I was in AWE of the hair), goths, mods & rockers. I also didn't just have a ra-ra skirt I had a ra-ra-ra-ra-ra skirt. I was the e...

I was born in '65 and I LOVED the 80's, such a fun decade. I used to have big hair and styled it every morning. I also had a ra ra dress - it was lilac, I loved it too. When I started working in an office, the suits and big shoulder pads were worn, I must have looked like an American footballer lol. There was a lot of neon around, the pink, yellow etc and they were fun to wear. I remember buying a white crinkle cotton duster coat (a cotton coat that was floor length), my mum washed it and spent 4 hour...

The first outfit reminds me of what Madonna would wear in the 80s.

  • Cake Plays  (Dec 31, 2018))

That outfit reminds me of Bellatrix from Harry Potter.

  • Ingrid Dubbel  (Dec 2, 2018))

That IS what Madona wore in the 1980's.
