  • I havent driven her more than a few blocks since fixing her up, havent gotten a chance to test her out well to see if everything is well... well what better time to test it than to the dump, if she fails id leave her there hahah, oh and trying to rush to work hoping that all works well with no issues. So it was a fun adventure, and she did really well for her first time.

Nice video, makes me sometimes missing a stick shift. Those RPM's are about right, you might want to check you're up pipes leaking. I changed them and was amazed how loud they made the truck because they where leaking.

I did not realize diesel pickups had synchronized manual transmissions. I figured you had to float them like a tractor trailer, or double clutch if you're green.

I have a 2002 automatic 7.3 and it cruises at about 1,800 - 2,000 RPM mark at 70MPH depending on road grade and such.

You cycle the glow plugs a couple times? Roughly 4 minutes. Doesnt look like freezing weather thats a slow start... My 7.3 has 280k and fires up right away even if sitting a month in 30-40 degree weather unplugged. Have you checked glow plugs? And harness?

It's kinda hard/nostalgic watching you drive a stick shift Ford truck. They don't make them any more. Ford pickups are all automatic now. Until my current car I always had manuals.

Might have 410 gears in it don’t let it go below a 1/4 tank those old trucks are bad about losing the pickup on the bottom of the fuel hose

Yeah the rpm's are right on target, but I have a straight 4" (that's what she said) and it's not that loud in the cab, like someone said down 'V' there there dyna mating on the inside of the firewall might need attention. Beautiful big girl.
