I would absolutely watch a show where Bill Nye aggressively attacks viewer’s misconceptions about science, all while insulting them in the most profane way possible.

    "Should we save the planet?"
"Well, first we need to let corporations ruin it so they can make more money. Then we'll think about it."

It's always nice as a Canadian when we get a mention, even when the subject is is something as dire as climate change and carbon emissions, and you get to laugh at our embarrassing political body spitting hot fire from the House of Commons floor.
While the tax was introduced at the federal level, it was actually up to each of the provinces and territories to come up with their own plan to curb emissions and price pollution, but with a rising tide of populist right-wing knuckle-draggers all finding their way into office, they have actively worked to undo all the momentum gained by environmental activists lobbying our prime minister's office. The tax is actually a backstop to any province that didn't have their own policy framework and carbon pricing plan in place, and recently, under Conservative Party leadership, they have scrapped cap and trade, essentially throwing away billions of dollars in investment and clean energy. Furthermore, Saskatchewan, Alberta and Ontario have all taken the federal government to court over the carbon tax, and what they argue is "government overreach." They lost, but in the process, they have spent millions of taxpayer dollars, and they are turning public opinion to their side by putting out politically-charged propaganda and attack ads. There's a mandate here in Ontario to post a sticker at every gas pump with misleading infographics about the cost of the carbon tax being passed on to consumers, and there's a $10,000 per day fine for any gas station that doesn't display them.
So we're strapped in to this nauseating carnival ride right alongside you, America. And it doesn't look good for us - the federal election is coming up for us this October, and the future of Trudeau's Liberal majority is looking pretty grim. Worse than that was the news that Canada's climate and the changes we're already experiencing are pretty well locked in, and we are warming at three times the rate of the rest of the world, which means catastrophic changes for our major natural resources, and entire livelihoods being lost, especially north of the Arctic Circle. We need your help to change to a different path, because the one we're sprinting toward is bleak. The saying goes that whenever America sneezes, Canada is the one that blows its nose; meaning, whatever major political party swing takes place in the States, generally ours follows along behind in the next federal election. What I'm saying is, we're looking to you to veer away from backwards conservative policy on the environment, because we're staring down our own conservative majority, and they are looking to make some really regressive changes to our institutions. Your neighbours to the north are depending on you.
