  • Ibom Air is a state owned carrier based at Victor Attah International Airport. The carrier operates regional services to destinations in Africa, using CRJ900 aircraft. Ibom Air had taken delivery of CRJ900 aircraft and launched an inaugural flight on Feb-2019. It commenced regular passenger services on 07-Jun-2019 with services to Lagos and Abuja. The airline is wholly owned and operated by Akwa Ibom State Government.
The airline commenced operations on June 7 2019 when a Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft marked Ibom Air took off from Victor Attah International Airport (IATA: QUO), Uyo, with government officials on board, en route to Muritala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. Akwa Ibom is the first state in the country to own an airline. In May 2021, the Airline also signed Nigeria's first domestic codeshare agreement with Dana Air. Dana Air COO Obi Mbanuzuo said the agreement is "the first of its kind for domestic airlines in Nigeria". Mr Mbanuzuo added: "We do hope that this partnership... will set a positive precedent for the greater good of the industry".

But the airline nursed, ab-initio, an ambitious route expansion strategy beyond the national airspace. The Airbuses are meant to make Uyo a continental aviation hub, and that seems to have been kick started. Gambian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mohamadou Musa Njie, recently went to Uyo to discuss with Emmanuel the prospects of Ibom Air flying to Banjul, The Gambia. That was even before the Airbuses were acquired.
