    You should use old cooked rice that has been in the fridge on a sheet pan. The dryness gives you a lot more leeway to add tasty liquids. Also, the reason it's called "fried rice" is that in the cooking process, the rice crackles like it's being fried, and the grains should be lightly coated with a smoky caramelized sauce.

    To be honest there is no "ultimate starter show", anime like Cowboy Bebop and Trigun are great, but are also very dated.
