Jon Stewart might be the comedian, but Congress is the joke.

His anger is misguided and wrong. Congress gave plenty of money($7.5 Billion in 2015) and it has been tapped by folks all over the nation wanting free treatment for any illness they can claim. The money was more than enough if it had been used for first responders, but it became a slush fund and doled out to folks in almost every state in the union. But this is how we govern today,by shame. Why be responsible with the tax payers money when you can just go shame congress and get more money added?

"18 years later, do yours." Damn, i got chills.

"THAT'S YOUR JOB" ... hands down one of the best speeches ever heard.

@Reel Fishing The is the genius of the daily show with John Steward as they took serious issue and added humor to make them entertaining to get people interested. But if you watch him in other show like Bill Maher, or when talking about 9/11 first responder he gets very serious.

Right! I didnt know Jon Stewart had a serious side. Hands down the best speech I have heard in a long long time.

That closing statement was so powerful it sent chills down my spine. God damn I love Jon Stewart.

This was fantastic. The next Super Bowl halftime show should just be Jon Stewart humiliating Congress for 30 minutes.

  • Zane M  9 days ago

Smoove J I would watch, it would be more interesting than the past 4 super bowl halftime shows 😂

This was fantastic. The next four years should just be...

When a non-partisan issue, that is supported by more than 90% of the American public, can't be resolved in 18 years: the system is truly broken.

@John Thompson So what's more important... The people that died, the ones that are dying, the truth, or how it makes your pussy ass feel!!!! Fuck you!!!

  • Chava Rifa  9 days ago

@John Thompson Typical american thoughts... Go eat McDonald's bitch!!

Government officials should be fired and replaced if they continuously fail to show up to their jobs as ANY other citizen would. I agree with Jon Stewart here. He’s not 100% correct, he’s 1000% correct. 9/11 first responders are heroes and the nation owes them the world.

The 2.8K down votes are all Congress, lobbyists, or health insurance workers

@francis chow - this crap is why nothing has been done. A lot of talk blaming and no doing. Damn. That got boring two sentences in.

  • Til Merkan  6 days ago

@francis chow Nice analysis, wrong conclusion (or I misunderstood). I chose Oliver and Colbert ... . At least they present some facts and can look after. The right still leads the opinion building process, with their primitive arguments and unbelievable stupid lies. And that is not even Whataboutism (and I am thankfull that John Oliver explained it to me)... it is a choice, to make the next step, away from the dumbness of right wing media. And keep in mind: This next step won't be the last one.

Jon Stewart is a perfect example of a person who has a voice using it for the betterment of others. Much respect for a good and decent man.

@Matthew TelleDude, you're the troll who crawled on here to comment looking to start something. Your comment is asinine. Slither away please.

  • Matthew Telle  10 days ago

@Lauraine Garten Yeah I prefer to research things and not just gobble up what my corporate masters tell me.Thanks for your zombie input just the same.

First responders: Extraordinary people who did what they did because they care about people MORE than their job. and Politicians: People who are afraid to do anything because they care more about their job than our people.
