I get a kick hearing him talk about these machines in such detail and with such enthusiasm. Always inspires me to write more demos.

Damn Phil, you had me googling for 10 minutes trying to find the 808 used on the Abacab album, lol !!

Turns out it runs all through "Man on the Corner". I had always just assumed it was the CR-78.

Don't worry Phil. Behringer brings out the RD -808 soon which sounds exactly the same and has MIDI/USB etc. And will cost under 400USD :) https://youtu.be/US4jz0vrUOQ

Thank you for this. A quick constructive criticism comment: it sounds like the shotgun and lav microphones are out of sync by a frame or so. The EQ is also hollow and flat.

I really like you Phil. Deeply inspired by yout music as a musician and I thank you for all what youve done with Genesis and solo. And your drumming is still TONS better than whatever a machine can come up with, even a 808

Father To Son is a great song from But Seriously. Phil used drum machines on every album except Going Back and Dance Into The Light.

The CR-78 didn't replace the drummer but the Linn LM-1 did.
