Fun story. I drive for Uber, and picked up a rep for Hourglass. She was in town to train the employees in the stores on how to use the new liquid foundation because "the beauty community is doing it wrong, and then saying it's a bad product". She said that it's meant to be used with a beauty blender because brushes can micro-exfoliate the skin and put the highly pigmented product in, which makes it look bad. She also said that since it is a highly pigmented product that 1/2 a pump is all that is needed. Use more than that and it is cakey or won't blend right. I think it's odd that they sent their brushes with the product, if its meant to be used with a sponge, but maybe they don't sell sponges? I don't know if the site says anywhere that it's best used with a sponge? I just thought I'd mention it since you did all the things that she said were not the correct way, and then experienced what she said would happen. Such a random thing, but it was a fun conversation with a brand rep.

Am I the only one who does not understand why they didn’t design the bottle to dispense the right amount with one pump instead of saying to use half a pump?

How is it that when Tati reviews other products like foundation or eyeshadow and uses primer, everyone asks if she’d do it without primer but then she reviews this product that SPECIFICALLY says to NOT prime, everyone flips out and asks her to put on primer? I agree that perhaps it would be better if these reviews were half-and-half (half primer, half bare) but I’ve seen like 5 videos on this foundation where some primed and some don’t, used a beauty sponge, used half a pump and all of them don’t really like this foundation still? Thing is, people had high hopes for this foundation because of how great the stick version was but it’s a let down. In all honesty, I feel like people are trying to justify this because it’s Hourglass and expensive so they’re trying everything to make it work because of it.

Doesn’t follow the directions for the Dyson review: People get mad.

Reading the comments and people are coming in hard at Tati for not using a primer. She’s using the foundation the way it was advertised: no primer needed. It didn’t perform well for her and that’s her opinion/experience with it. Honestly, I would be as critical as her if I just spent $57.

So you guys are getting mad because she "didnt follow the instructions" by only using half a pump, but where do you see her adding three pumps? I only saw her do that first pump on the pallet and then work off that for the rest of the time she was applying. No where did she say "I'm adding 2 more pumps" nor do you see her putting 2 more pumps on. All you see is her buffing and blending for a long time. Also you guys cant get mad at her for "not following instructions" then get mad at her for not using a primer when the instructions clearly state to use the foundation WITHOUT a primer....

I don’t understand why people get so offended when your opinion doesn’t fall in line with theirs. 🙄🤦🏻‍♀️

THE TRUTH IS.. it’s 2019! She shouldn’t have to baby a foundation just to make it work. There are drugstore options that Tati looks beautiful in that are way more cooperative than this foundation. I’ve seen reviews use half a pump and they literally couldn’t spread it across their face from it drying so fast. I’ve seen reviews that used more, I’ve seen reviews without a primer, with a primer, with a facial oil, with a brush, with a sponge.. it’s just not a great foundation!

I received a deluxe sample of this foundation from Sephora. I watched Rosie Huntington-Whitley’s video with Hourglass makeup artist, Marc Reagan, for tips on how to apply this foundation properly. He was adamant that your skin has to be well-moisturized and even more adamant that you truly only need 1/2 pump of foundation to cover your entire face because it is so high in pigment. He applied 1/2 pump on the back of his hand and dotted Rosie’s face with that 1/2 pump of foundation, then used the brush to buff it out. I initially tried to blend it out with my Artis brush, but found that the foundation dried quickly and didn’t blend out seamlessly. I do agree with him that you need a lot less foundation than you think, but I don’t agree that a brush is the best method to apply it. Since my sample bottle lacks a pump, I swiped foundation all over my face from the spatula in one go (no double-dipping) and then used a damp sponge to blend it out. My moisturizer/primer was the J One Jelly Pack. I have oily skin and found that the Liquid Vanish foundation turned me into a shiny, greasy mess in about 5 hours. Didn’t cling to any dry patches, perhaps the J One Jelly Pack helped with that, but man was I SHINY! I tried the foundation twice and couldn’t make it more than 5 hours without getting super-shiny. I also didn’t find it to be transfer-proof.

So many armchair critics and unnecessary nastiness in this comments section. This is a review channel... reviews are subjective. Tati has an insane amount of makeup experience and product knowledge, these are her opinions. Why are people disputing this? Also, the instructions are for NO primer.

I bought this foundation and it was hands down the worst foundation I’ve ever used. I HATED it. I saw raw beauty Kristis review and bought it. Glad it worked for her but wowowowowowowowowow this was hideous on me.
