There is such a mission in Zelda Phantom Hourglass, where you control Link in a boss fight, while watching Link through the monster's eyes.

In a first person game, I control myself
In a third person game, I control him/her (the character)
In a second person game, I control you ..... Yes, you

Could you help me for a second, I will now play you. If you'd be so kind as so follow them, we will have successfully played a 2nd person game. My instructions are as follows:
    stand point down

This is not true. A second person game would be where you see the perspective from the eyes of the character you are trying to kill but you dont actually control. It would simply let you see them killing "you".

theres another game which I can't remember the name of where you're standing in the middle of a room and then enemies spawn around you, but you see through their eyes. you see a person standing in the middle of a room who is turning around frantically in the wrong directions and eventually shooting you as he gets the hang of the controls. and when other enemies spawn, you get multiple split screens so its a lot of 2nd person screens.

Would playing a 3rd person game through VR count as 2nd person perspective? You're in the game and you can freely look around, while also controlling a character that you're playing.

1st person is from your perspective, 3rd person is from a narrator perspective (like a god if you like, he knows almost all about characters and narrative, but goes telling the story as he want to present it). 2nd person is like a witness, he sees the main character, but can only tell what he sees or saw. That's and interesting example, if we left the narrative apart, of what second person would be. A driver chasing another, just displaying what the witness (the guy following you) sees
